Welcome to Pack 512

Cub Scout Pack 512 is a Family Pack, accepting both boys and girls. We are based in Northwest Reno. Many of our families live in Northwest Reno, Verdi, and Mogul, but we certainly accept Scouts from other areas if we fit your needs. Our main recruitment coincides with the beginning of the school year in August, but we welcome new Scouts to join year-round.

Cub Scouts is a great family activity! The Cub Scout program is designed as an introduction to Scouting for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade. The program is based on twelve core values (the Scout Law) and the aims of Scouting (citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness) are learned in a safe, fun, and positive environment.

Scouts are grouped into Dens (small groups of the same age), and the Dens make up the Pack.

During the Scouting year, which aligns with the academic year (August - June), Scouts work towards earning their rank badge by completing various adventures. These adventures are specifically tailored to their age and developmental stage. We also hold Pack activities over the summer, and Scouts can attend Day Camp and Overnight Camps during the summer as well.

Lions (Kindergarten)
This rank is an introduction to the Scouting program. Lions are required to have an adult partner (parent, guardian, family member, or friend) who is at least 18 years old present with them during all meetings.

Tigers: 1st Grade
Tigers start learning more about teamwork, citizenship, personal fitness, the outdoors, and more. Tiger Scouts are also required to have an adult partner (parent, guardian, family member, or friend) who is at least 18 years old present with them during all meetings.

Wolves: 2nd Grade
Wolf Scouts are starting to become more independent, and their adventures will illustrate this as they continue to learn about the twelve points of the Scout Law.

Bears: 3rd Grade
Bear Scouts are starting to become more personally responsible, and their adventures will highlight this as they explore hand tools and earn their Whittling Chip while continuing to learn about the Scout Law.

Webelos: 4th Grade
Webelos marks the beginning of the transition from Cub Scouts (adult led) to Scouts BSA (Scout led).

Arrow of Light: 5th Grade
Arrow of Light is the highest award in Cub Scouts. It is the only rank that can be worn on the Scout's uniform once they bridge to a Scouts BSA troop, which happens in February.
